We begin at the little hamlet of Saldes, making our way north-east in lovely countryside before descending steeply into an almost tropical valley. From here we make our way north to join a wide track which takes us up a canyon, following the course of the tumbling river. Just short of the refuge and sanctuary of Gresolet, we turn off to cross the river and begin a steep climb through mixed forest, which eventually brings us to the start of a lovely footpath heading south-east. Now we follow this, enjoying amazing panoramas, as we wend our way beneath the sheer cliffs of Pedraforca. Nearing the end, we reach the little church of Santa Maria and the ruins of what was once a fortified settlement. A few more minutes brings us back to the start.
