Starting from the church in the pretty village of San Joan, our hike takes us up into the Serra Grossa along forest ways, eventually reaching the high point at Sa Torreta. With good visibility, we can enjoy stunning views all round Ibiza. Descending, we enter lovely old countryside full of vines and fruit-trees before we begin to ascend once more through forests. Soon we go down again into a wonderful valley, which we follow until climbing once more towards the Serra Grossa. Shortly we are back on our outward path and have only to follow it back down to San Joan and choose one of the two bar-restaurants for a well-earned reward!

My thanks to Gerrard Sweeney, a Walkingworld member, for kindly checking this walk out in November 2018. I have incorporated his suggested changes and the walk remains an absolute beauty and very highly recommended. Jim Arymar

Having lived here for 7 years we thought we had explored every part of this Island. We were wrong. An absolutely outstanding walk into another world, very impressive. The little houses and the wildlife were like something from a fairytale. Updated by Jim Arymar with thanks to Hayley Jones

WALKED MARCH 2011. A SENSATIONAL WALK. THE VIEWS FROM SA TORRETA ARE STUPENDOUS, MUCH BETTER THAN SA TALAIA AS YOU GET A 360 DEGREE PANORAMA. TRY TO DO IT ON A CLEAR DAY. JANICE & PHIL WALLER
