Leaving the church at San Jordi, we begin by walking north through the town to follow a delightful path along the former streambed. Soon we are in lovely Ibiza countryside as we make our way towards the foothills of the Serra Grossa. Now we face a stiff climb for about 1.5 kilometres, following a line of pylons to reach the track that heads east through the Serra. We divert off briefly to make a short and easy additional ascent to the trig point at Puig des Merlet, where we are rewarded with stunning views over San Antonio and the northern side of the island. Returning to the original track we continue along the ridge, enjoying the panoramas to the south before beginning our descent. The walk ends by following the same outward route along the dry streambed back in San Jordi.

Proofed walked 6 April 2019. I have updated one photo. The hike is unchanged and remains an absolute stunner with beautiful countryside and magnificent vistas - highly recommended and well worth the one very steep rocky climb! Jim Arymar
