We begin by walking into the Sanctuary grounds before heading away north west with stunning views down to the plateau Clot d’Albarca. Mountain streams cascade below. Soon we have to leave the lane and begin an ascent through dense oak forest and follow indistinct paths before eventually dropping down near a farm building to join a track. This brings us to the isolated farmstead of Son Macip which we walk round to continue our way upwards. Soon we have to leave the track and take to forest trails once more. After some tricky climbing we join a track that brings us to the main Soller to Polença road. We follow this for a while before passing through a rather odd housing development that appears not to have happened. From here we face a tricky short descent through thick woodland to join the well known GR 221 route. This is the way that unites the northern sides of the island through the Serra de Tramuntana in 8 stages. We will now follow this way a short distance back to the Sanctuary of Lluc.
