This fairly flat walk starting from the coastal town of Seaham heads inland along roads, lanes and field-paths to intersect and pass through greenbelt areas in the suburbs of the city of Sunderland. The route ends with a fabulous walk along the clifftops overlooking the North Sea between Ryhope and Seaham.

The walk starts with a little journey around the perimeter of the five-star Seaham Hall Hotel after which road-, lane- and field-walking takes the walker through the hamlet of Burdon. More road- and lane-walking follows to enter the suburbs of Sunderland, where a series of surfaced paths through slivers of green areas delivers the walker to the huge open green area of Silksworth Sports Complex, where the route passes the popular dry ski slope, athletics track, football fields and skatepark. The route then intersects a railway path that ends near the coast at the village of Ryhope. The last couple of miles of the walk back to Seaham travels along the flat grasslands on the clifftops overlooking the North Sea.
