With the Ochil Hills as a backdrop, what more could you ask? As you leave Castle Reservoir the minor road climbs steeply towards Glenquey House. The route then meanders up through the forest for about a mile before bursting out onto the open hillside - and what a treat you are in for: the whole of the River Forth Valley stretches before your eyes, as you swing round over Commonedge Hill (not much of a summit, just a big mound). You are now looking towards Seamab Hill in the distance. The long view brings Loch Leven into sight with its charming castle. This is where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned. You are now walking on top of the world; what an experience. A steep descent on a good grass trail takes you back to the minor road.
