This flat walk around the south-east corner of the old County Durham (now Teesside) features great beach-walks as well as industrial areas. The route also includes a visit to a surprisingly charming village.

The walk starts from Seaton Carew and heads inland past a housing estate, an industrial estate and a pleasant wooded lane to intersect a dual carriageway. The walk then passes through the picturesque village of Greatham before turning east again to pass through an industrial area. A little road-walking follows, taking the walker along a long, quiet road to emerge onto the beach at North Gare Sands. From here the route heads north up North Gare Sands to cross the North Gare Breakwater, before making the final lap along Seaton Sands to return to the start.
