The second section of the Coastal Path starts in the National Trust car park at Formby and goes through pinewoods to St Luke's Church, from where tracks lead under trees and then along a field edge to a shared cycle-track parallel to the railway line. This brings you to the entrance to the Altcar Training Camp and rifle range, where there is just a short walk along the edge of the River Alt and the sailing club to the end a few minutes from Hightown Station. This one of a series of walks done from home during the 2020 lockdown.
