This walk goes first to the south of Settle, climbing slowly by walled tracks. It then circles back to go beneath the slopes of Sugar Loaf Hill near Attermire Cave, to which a detour may be made. A grassy track leads downhill and back to the town. Although the walk is fairly short there is a total climb of 300m or 1,000 feet, which explains its grading. Navigation is straightforward even on the misty day that I recorded the walk - normally the views are outstanding!

Despite being in the heart of sheep country, much of this walk is dog-friendly in that it uses tracks that are well walled or fenced, especially from point 4 to point 11. From point 12 to point 17 the ground is more open, but even so, there was little livestock when we did the walk in mid Feb. Likely to be more about in Spring/Summer though. There are also several dog-friendly pubs in Settle!
