The walk starts on the car park of a pub, currently part of the Harvester chain.
We cross the A45, walk into Elmdon Park and up to the Grade 2-listed St Nicholas' Church. From here we head across fields, with great views of aircraft landing at Birmingham Airport, towards Bickenhill, before turning to head for Catherine de Barnes, where you will find a second canalside pub over the canal-bridge.

From here the walk leads back for a mile of canal-walking before returning on a tarmac path to the entrance to the Elmdon Park again.

I did the walk with friends from the local U3A on 18th September 2018. The instructions are really clear and the walk is varied and interesting. Its am ideal winter walk with paths and only minimal field walking, the fields are mainly crop based so avoiding animal churned areas. We had a really enjoyable walk.

)n 18/09/2018 At the end of point 6 there is a gate on the right but the path is to the left of the gate through an opening into a field. There is no stile and the wooden post with the yellow directional arrows has rotted off and is lying on the ground attached to some pig wire. Thereafter the route is as described in comment 7
