PLEASE NOTE – DOGS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE ESTATE.

Sledmere village is an estate village built in support of the 18th Century Sledmere House Estate. The house itself has been home to many generations of the Sykes family since 1751, and they are responsible for the many monuments and follies in and around the village and estate.

The walk itself is an amalgam of a visit to the village, (from where you can also visit Sledmere House and Gardens - see www.sledmerehouse.com for up to date admission prices) with a concessionary route around the parkland south of the estate.

Further information about the things you will see is available from the Gift Shop in the form of a leaflet entitled ‘A Walk Around Sledmere Village’ (cost £1.80 in 2009) and ‘Sledmere Park Circular Walk’ (free). Though this walk doesn’t adhere faithfully to either.
