Starting from the village of Snitterfield, where Shakespeare's grandfather farmed, walk via fields and lanes to reach Wolverton. Pass through the churchyard, keep on to the road and the few houses of Langley Green before returning along the Monarch's Way. This is a very pleasant route, though I doubt whether King Charles found time to appreciate the scenery as he fled after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester.

Information for Dog Owners: this is sheep country, so dogs should be kept on a leash.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Monarch's Way stretch. Good instructions and great views. Got lost between WM07 and WM10. Route indistinct, lacked signage and clear instructions. Muddy throughout walk and route overgrown with nettles. Walking stick and GPS/compass worth taking. Location of WM03 too early and may be worth routing walk along FP to come out on lane near sewage works. OS 220/1 are maps you need not 205

A good, varied walk. The directions were easy to follow.
