These paths and tracks are well-walked by locals from Thornton le Dale, especially those close to the village. So if aren't well equipped or want a more arduous walk and climb up to the Dalby Forest area, then this walk could be done with little preparation in stout shoes. Look out for the model village in a roadside front garden just 500m from the car park. Another attraction in Thornton itself is Mathewson's Classic Car Museum and Old Garage - the classic car auctions held here and the stories attached to the vehicles on sale, are shown on the TV Channel Yesterday in the programme 'Bangers and Cash'.

So why not spend a day exploring the village with its cafes and pubs and enjoy this two-hour walk as well?
