As well as walking over fields this walk takes in some narrow country lanes, but avoids any main roads. After leaving the Blue Bell Inn you walk down a narrow lane before heading across fields at Spenmoss towards Brownlow, where you get good views of the hills of East Cheshire, of which The Cloud and Shutlingsloe are of particular interest. From Brownlow Heath you then head towards Rode Hall, with a view to your left of the folly on top of Mow Cop. Along this road you can make a slight detour to visit Little Moreton Hall, which is well worth the diversion. Just before Pump Farm you turn off to head towards Higher Smallwood, before making your way back to the Blue Bell Inn.

Did this walk on 7/3/10, and it was very enjoyable, apart from the kilometre described at number 10 - the word "lane" is misleading and anyone doing this should be aware that this stretch of road could be quite dangerous, with a fair amount of traffic and a number of blind corners where there is no grass verge at all.
