This walk is especially worthwhile in May when the bluebells are in full flower. The start has magnificent views of the Ayrshire countryside as you walk along the banks of the River Ayr. You then enter Ayr Gorge Woodlands, still following the river but this time through a semi-natural woodland designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). A drink or meal can be obtained at the Failford Inn before returning by a higher slightly shorter route through the gorge and then back on the original path.

There is subsidence and fallen trees between section 2 and 3 which makes the path along the river impractical. Unable to determine how far along the bank the trees and debris extended so our walk was abandoned. Date 10/4/2019 Hugh Mullen
