Start at the parking area beside Stisted Church and follow quiet lanes and field-paths to arrive at the village of Pattiswick. Food and drink are available here at The Compasses Inn. Soon follow a section through Great Monks Wood and after more field-paths and lanes, you walk through Broadfield wood and Belchers Wood which run alongside Brookes Nature Reserve. Then continue on more field-paths and another section of woodland, before entering Braintree Golf Course. Here you basiclally stay along the right-hand edge of the course, following the River Blackwater until you arrive back at Stisted Church.
