This route climbs deep into the Lammermuir Hills of East Lothian. It is a walk in three parts: a long but gentle climb southwards through cultivated land on a hill-path up to the col at 400m, followed by a rough ascent up Lammer Law's SW shoulder, to the top at 527m. The walk then joins another hill-path, again at the col at 510m and descending northwards to Longyester. Finally there is a long but picturesque return along very quiet country roads.

When you leave the summit and get to the gate you turn right. They have erected a new fence, so follow the old fence to reach the track.

The walk passes through a shooting range and a discussion with the local access officer confirmed that access through the shooting range at wpt 5 cannot be guaranteed.

Superb walk with magnificent panoramas. Would be equally enjoyable in the reverse direction.
