The walk starts in Stocksmoor, a quiet West Yorkshire village and passes through the village centre and into open fields. There is then a section of lane-walking to reach Thurstonland Village, with great views along the way. The rail tunnel goes under the village of Thurstonland. After the village, it's a descent through fields and woods to Brockholes. Along the way you can see the tunnel entrance from a bridge over the railway.
