This circular walk starts off along the Bayhead River and the golf clubhouse and very pretty golf course – one of the cheapest in the UK. Further on, it continues along the Willowglen River to Latta's Mill. An excursion uphill, an ascent of about 200ft, leads to the Lewis War Memorial. The tower, nowadays not accessible, frowns over 22 plaques, giving the names of men from Lewis who fell in the two world wars. The views from here are breathtaking, from the Barvas Hills in the north-west to the town of Stornoway below in the east.

The walk returns to Willowglen and goes as far as Marybank Lodge, then continues onto a track along the slopes of Strawberry Hill, returning to gates of Lews Castle College. Lews Castle itself can be glimpsed between the trees. The Castle is now open to the public, and includes a cafe and the Western Isles Museum.
