This is a circular walk starting at the tiny hamlet of Stratford Tony. (Alternatively, the walk can be started and ended in Coombe Bissett – probably a better option for those using public transport, since there are several bus routes to Salisbury from here).

If starting from Stratford Tony, the route initially follows the line of the River Ebble to reach Coombe Bissett, where a short detour takes you to the popular Fox and Goose pub in the village itself.

From Coombe Bissett a gentle climb takes you out over Coombe Bissett Down, with superb views on all sides. After crossing the A354 and travelling south to Toyd, you return over Little Toyd Down and Stratford Tony Down, with further fine views.

The walking is mainly easy going on byways, field-paths and quiet lanes, with a short section of roadway past Grims Lodge Farm, which could be avoided by taking the byway past Greenacres Farm and then cutting back along Grim's Ditch, adding three-quarters of a mile or so to the route.

Path blocked between points 6 and 7 the gate mentioned underneath the pylon does not exist. I walked along road which was fine but is a bit busy, apart from that good walk and dog friendly. Navigation easy
