This is an interesting and picturesque little walk beginning in the area of Stratford-sub-Castle and taking a footpath to the Avon Valley Nature Reserve, a large area of green space. The River Avon is followed for a time before entering a busy area of residental dwellings. In contrast, the peace and tranquility of St Mark's Path in Bishopdown is another lovely green area of countryside that leads through Paul's Dene and up Castle Hill to pass the Old Sarum Ancient Monument.

Done this walk on a nice sunny autumn day, and although it is quite urban with the dog on a lead for a good while it is very pleasant. Make sure you identify waymark 5 properly as there is a previous road bridge which the instructions don't mention.
