Starting in a lay-by, the walk takes you along a green lane and through an allotment into the small town of Axbridge. Through the old square and the National Trust property of St John's Hunting Lodge, you leave the town to go towards Axbridge Reservoir (with a slightly unnerving view of water at nose level at one point!)

Then it's back along the Strawberry Line to cross the road and a long uphill stretch, with nature reserve and wood to one side. A short, on-road stretch takes you back up the hill where great views are available. From then it's onto Shute Shelve Hill and a steep descent to a stretch of Strawberry Line and back to the start.

11/10/2016 - Chris Hutchins

Walked on 10/11/2016 - At Waypoint 10 the route description was clear but on the ground the path was completely blocked at ST446540 by dense brambles and undergrowth. We went South towards the reservoir and eventually found a gate out into the open at ST446539. A few yards further on there we came to the start of the track the route expects to emerge onto at Waypoint 11. Today the gate was open but it did have a lock on it. If it is possible to use the Reservoir path from the track crossed at Waypoint 9, that might be safest.
