The first part of this walk takes you through pleasant agricultural land along well-maintained footpaths and droves. The stretch between Red Hill Farm and the A1123 can be muddy after wet weather. The middle section takes you along the edge of Grunty Fen, an area – as with nearly all of Fenland – which would be mostly under water if it were not for the constant drainage operations. The fen is on your left as you walk beside the Grunty Fen Catchwater.

I led a group of 8 walkers around this walk on 10th April 2015. At point 5 (Red Hill Farm),we entered the farmyard by the pedestrian gate, but the farmer encouraged us to exit by the same gate and to retrace our footsteps for about 25 yards to pass through a small field gate.We crossed his field in a north-easterly direction to return to the prescribed route. (PS The same comment will apply to Walk 1404 at Point 4)
