After leaving The Plough Inn we follow the main road through the village, before crossing field-paths and the Fosse Way. The pleasant field-paths descend slightly, eventually to join the farm track near Ditchford Frary, the site of a deserted medieval village.

We follow a farm track for some way until reaching a minor road. A short distance up to Fosse Way we turn off down another minor road towards Paxford. Descending from the minor road and using field-paths around Dees Barn, crossing Paddle Brook (bridge provided) and circumnavigating Blackdowns, we return to the main road and village of Stretton-on-Fosse and the excellent food of The Plough Inn.

We very much enjoyed this walk in some beautiful, early summer sunshine with the promise of a refreshing pint at the end! The route was easy to follow and not arduous. We nearly came unstuck at waypoint 9 and wouldn't have found our way unless the residents of the cottage hadn't arrived at the same time and pointed out the path. Basically, bear right across the front of the cottage and head towards a horse menage, keep the menage to your left along to the corner, there is a tiny gap with a waypoint arrow on top of the corner post. Hardly any room has been left and we had to push through between the undergrowth and the end rail to find our way through. Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable walk with a friendly welcome at the pub to finish!
