The Dinore Tramway snakes up the hills above Talybont before reaching Trevil. This walk only explores the first part, then drops down to the reservoir. At this point the walk could be extended, by exploring the Taff Trail before following the route back down to the canal. This walk is easily done by anyone having a canal holiday - as we were!!!

The path down to the reservoir was too difficult for me. We went back to the earlier wide path which was easy. A better alternative too is to take the path down to the river at Aber. Walking along that on a sunny day was gorgeous and so much better than staying on the road.

This is a lovely walk. I would just say that the route recommended from the Brinmore Tramway to the reservoir was not that clear when we arrived at that point and appeared to head down through a field that contained a large herd of lively cows, calves and a bull. We turned back at this point and continued to the reservoir via the Taff Trail. Might be worth avoiding, especially if you have dogs.

We were looking for an easy walk suitable for a visiting 80 year old. We walked it in lovely sunny weather and the scenery is stunning. We diverted off the road briefly in Aber village to walk though the fields. The only part which would be difficult for the elderly is the descent from the Dinmore tramway to the dam, but this could be avoided by taking the turning earlier onto the Taff Trail.
