The walk begins in a Country Park, site of an old quarry and drops to a reservoir. A gradual climb through woodland brings the walker to an inn a few minutes away from the start. There are toilets and shelter at the start of the walk and in summer, a kiosk serving refreshments. The peak of Shutlingsloe dominates the scene, although the landscape is attractive all round.

Completed this walk 17th March 2014. I combined it with walk 1142 to make it a bit more interesting. I found walk 419 a tad boring after coming off Teggs Nose, but by combining it with walk 1142 it turned into a memorable one especially the climb up to Shutlingsloe with its magnificent 360 degree views. Jim's directions were fairly easy to follow. Excellent day out really enjoyed it..

Don't plan to have a drink at the Setter Dog on your walk - because it's no longer a pub! Also be sure to have change for the pay & display in the car park.
