An easy walk with fine views over the open skies of Bedfordshire, this is a short route across the flat downlands below the Greensand Ridge and then through the village of Everton and along the easy paths of the Woodbury Estate. There is only one climb, of about fifty metres, which is easily done on good, if sometimes muddy paths.

The best reason to do the walk is in remembrance of the brave men and women who served in the secret war of the Special Operations Executive supporting the resistance in Europe behind enemy lines. The memorial barn passed on the walk is a fine tribute to their bravery, with many poppies and moving personal accounts of the sacrifices they made. The agents assembled here at night ready to board their specially adapted Lysanders for their flight to Europe. The barn is just off the public footpath on private land, and can be visited if prior permission is sought from The Countess of Erroll (the email address to use is given in Additional Information for the walk).

Depending on the time of the year it can get pretty boggy underfoot but an interesting walk topped of with a visit to the SOE hut. Very moving reading some of the tributes and stories. Friendly pub The Thornton Arms back in the village of Everton

Good walk from Mr Owen, this is a historic walk, with some interesting facts. Dogs have to be kept under control past the conservation area which is signposted and there are cows on the walk through the Estate.
