The views from Julian's Bower over the confluence of the Rivers Trent, Ouse and Humber are the high point of this walk. It is a good day's walk, but can easily be shortened whilst still retaining the visit to Julian's Bower (take the bridlepath from Alkborough to Coleby.) There are good pubs at the start, and halfway, and the stretch along the Humber bank is good for birdwatchers.

Did this walk on 23/4/15. I am very familiar with the Trent Valley Way in Notts but must say that this view of the Trent beats anything we have seen, even if it was shrouded in mist! An update that may be useful to dogwalkers that the styles between points 15 and 18 have been removed or replaced by gates. I would recommend this walk to anyone, the section along the Trent bank is as attractive as you could wish for.

3/9/2011 - Trevor Clarkson

We did a shortened version of this walk yesterday, 8th March 2011. We started at the picnic area mentioned at Point 39 and joined the full walk at about Point 5. To shorten the walk we diverted at Alkborough (Points 9 & 10). We took the bridleway and paths going east to a road and then south to West Halton where we rejoined the documented route at point 32. This variation made a walk of 7.85 miles. Our diversion is fairly obvious from the OS Map. Further Comments The Butchers Arms (mentioned at point 32) was not open on Tuesday Lunchtime. This is despite the big red sign near church saying that it opened All Day !! Finally I fully endorse the comments about the Sheffield Arms in Burton-Upon-Stather. If you want food on a Tuesday get there before 14:00. We just made it !!
