The route begins and ends near the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel and follows a narrow but well-worn path up to open, exposed moorland at 500ft; so bad-weather clothing should be carried. The only trees you pass are little copses of birch on the early part of the walk; on the plateau, only bare rock, heather, deer grass and moss... and wonderful views.

Fairy Lochs?...I don't know, but the rocky hill overlooking them is called Sithean Mor, or Big Hill of the Fairies.

Most people visit the crash site then return by the same route; but this circular walk is more satisfying.
