The National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas

The walk goes around the perimeter of the arboretum, much of it along the River Tame and mostly on gravelled tracks. Although it is a short stroll, you will probably do as we did and leave the route to look at various memorials glimpsed through the trees; we ended up walking over 6km.

The Arboretum gave us a map which was actually easier to follow than the OS but I wouldn't even have thought of visiting this place without Mr Grindle's recommendation and it was a super little walk with so much to see. Thank you.

We did this short walk today (15/08/13) at ‘The National Memorial Arboretum’ at Alrewas close to Burton on Trent. It turned out to be a very enjoyable walk on a nice warm day. It was interesting to see and reflect on hundreds of monuments to soldiers and servicemen who have sacrificed their lives during many campaigns. You can see my photos of the walk at :
