The walk goes around the perimeter of the arboretum, much of it along the River Tame and mostly on gravelled tracks. Although it is a short stroll, you will probably do as we did and leave the route to look at various memorials glimpsed through the trees; we ended up walking over 6km.

The Arboretum gave us a map which was actually easier to follow than the OS but I wouldn't even have thought of visiting this place without Mr Grindle's recommendation and it was a super little walk with so much to see. Thank you.

We did this short walk today (15/08/13) at ‘The National Memorial Arboretum’ at Alrewas close to Burton on Trent. It turned out to be a very enjoyable walk on a nice warm day. It was interesting to see and reflect on hundreds of monuments to soldiers and servicemen who have sacrificed their lives during many campaigns.
