Begin with a very pleasant road-walk alongside the River Avon, through Middle Woodford to Heale House entrance. Turn left to follow the Monarch's Way up to Hooklands Plantation and over Heale Hill. Cross the A30 and continue in the same direction until reaching a cross-tracks. Turn south to Stoford. Follow the A36 through the village towards Salisbury, then take the footpath on the left opposite the football ground. Follow the path uphill and over to the A360. Turn south round the zigzags to the next footpath sign on the left at the top of the hill. Follow this path over Smithen Down to Lower Woodford.

Forgot to say, the Swan at Stoford is a very dog friendly pub and the food was excellent!

Lovely walk. There is a long section at the beginning that is on a busy road that was not pleasant due to the amount of traffic and little protection on the verges. Apart from that it is a dog friendly walk, she was off lead for most of it.
