The walk initially follows the River Nene southwards to follow the old LNWR railway line alongside the A14, then turns up to the village of Islip. Quickly the river is again joined, though this time northwards, before the Nene Way takes us away through an area of wetlands and lakes, now used for fishing. On the return leg, the Nene is again alongside for a short distance before we rejoin the railway in a heavily wooded cutting. Sounds complicated? Not really, not when seen on a map.

Very pleasant walk. Nice views of the church at Aldwincle between points 8 and 9.
