Thurlaston - Huncote - Croft Hill - The Big Hole - Thurlaston

This walk takes you across fields from the Leicestershire village of Thurlaston to the nearby village of Huncote. After passing through the village there is a short stretch of walking alongside a quiet country road to reach Croft Hill and the Croft Quarry Nature Trail (a short detour can be made here to reach a picnic area). Climbing Croft Hill, you get a close-up view of the work which is moving the hill slowly from one location to another! After descending the hill you return to Thurlaston across fields, visiting the chapel at Potters Marston en route.

Thanks Sonia - that would work, forgot to mention the possibility of mud !!

Great walk, but after rain can be very muddy in parts. At ref 7,(an alternative, when very wet) instead, of passing through the gate, turn right and cross the bottom of the field to a wide track. Turn left, then almost immediately turn right on to the path stated in the notes. Another option is to continue down the track after crossing the motorway and pick up the right hand path after the bottom of the field.
