The Stour Valley in the northern part of the Blackmore Vale provides the setting for this walk through lush, rolling Dorset countryside, with quiet lanes, and completely unspoilt. There is an old coaching inn at the half-way point which serves good food and drink. Starting at Todber, a small village close to Marnhull, the walk crosses the River Stour to Fifehead Magdalen, then crosses the river again before heading across water meadows to Stour Provost. This is a very quiet and attractive village most of which was owned by King's College Cambridge until as recently as 1925. From Stour Provost the return to Todber is over rolling farmland. There are good views of the countryside throughout most of the walk, but little ascent and descent.
