An easy-to-follow ramble through the pleasant countryside in central County Durham, taking in a series of towns and villages. The north section of the route is fairly flat, whereas the south section involves an ascent and descent as the route passes through the loftily situated village of Ferryhill.

The walk starts from the picturesque village of Tudhoe and then travels through fields to intersect Tudhoe Colliery. More pleasant field-walking on well-used tracks follows as the route passes through Hett Village and then changes direction and heads south again through fields and along lanes to ascend to the ridge where Ferryhill Village sits in a lofty position. The route then descends through a very pleasant parkland area on the site of a former colliery and waste heap to arrive into the bustling town of Spennymoor. The final section of the walk is through a nature reserve before returning to Tudhoe Village.
