If a good Dartmoor moorland climb is what you are looking for, then this is for you. It is a linear walk, see the access information for more details, with a couple of points of which you need to be aware. Firstly the route does take you into the Merrivale military firing range so it can’t be done if there is firing on the ranges. For details of range firing on Dartmoor, visit www.dartmoor-ranges.co.uk or call 01837-650010.

Be aware also that after periods of heavy rain, crossing the East Dart could be troublesome and therefore you might have to make your way along the west bank of the river until you find a suitable crossing point.

After an initial long climb out of Two Bridges up to Beardown Tors, the terrain is relatively level across to Crow Tor, when there is a descent to cross the West Dart. After that, there is another climb up to Lower White Tor and then plenty of less strenuous ups and down all the way back, until the last 1.5 descent back into Postbridge.

En route there is plenty to hold your attention, including the need to take care from Lydford Tor around to Crow Tor where the ground can be quite wet and soft at times.

The views from the tors are excellent.
