Leaving the recreation ground, the walk takes you along the lanes in the village past The Brushmakers Arms, so called after the brush-making industry which flourished in the village at one time. Then you pass by the delightful village pond before leaving the lanes for good field-paths and tracks to Street End, with some superb views all around you. The return journey is also along tracks and field-paths, taking you along a particularly glorious track with some stunning views before descending back into Upham. Here you'll find a warm welcome for everyone in the village pub - including the resident ghost! There are a few stiles along the walk and my Labrador managed them with ease.

We had a beautiful walk in the glorious Hampshire countryside, the sun was bright and warm. The recreation ground was nice with good play things for the children, there were some wig wam type play structures that kids would find fun. Although the recent weather had left the ground nice and firm, it did seem that later in the year it might get quite wet and muddy? The views were beautiful and the plentiful foliage was pretty, there were blackberrys all along the route, and I wished I had taken something to collect a few, before they went to waste! Saw many pretty butterflies, birds of prey, pheasants and many other bird species. The route was clear from the walking world instructions, not getting lost at any point! We took the dog along with us, which worked well, only having to take care on the few road sections/crossings.

Went out today with my dog. There were a couple of roads to cross otherwise it was great to be able to let her off lead. There are barb wired fences surrounding the fields but I find that on most walks and after encountering one on the first stile she was aware of them as she darted in and out of the hedgerows. A nice combination of open fields, wooded tracks and mud! What more could she want.

I did this work with some collegues from work and our dogs. Overall there were 11 dogs and about the same humans. There was enough parking for us all at the recreation ground. Dogs loved it. There were a couple of roads to cross, one was a fast road but the rest was fantastic countryside. A few little hills, no problem for a reasonable fit person. We all finished off in the pub which is going through some decorating. We sat outside and they couldnt have been more helpful. Gave us a box of dog treats for all the dogs and brought our food out to us. Everyone had a great time and this is one I will certainly do again.

This is a beautiful walk. A little shorter than my normal walks but with the exceptional scenery it is an absolute must. Also, you can join walk number 4082 onto this and make a day of it. My dog Molly loved every step of the way. She has a face book account (Molly Steele) if you want to see some of the places she has visited from walking world.. Sylvia saunders is a master of lovely walks and superb directions. 100%.

This is a really pretty walk with some gorgeous views. Despite some wet weather recently none of the paths were very muddy, bar one big muddy puddle which was easy to pass. The pigs have moved field and are now near the start of the walk, and currently have lots of babies! 07/10/07-Upham is an excellent place to start many walks in the area. This is a particularly nice walk around undulating countryside with smashing views in each direction. This is very much pig country with loads of young out to play as we passed. The paper instructions for this walk are fine but if, like me,you use a gps make sure that the downloaded route makes sense when compared to the map waypoints. Thanks for this. Another of Sylvia's well written walks with accurate directions. The views on this walk are wonderful and as you walk in a loop they are constantly changing. The pig farm was a huge hit with Ian, whose favorite farm animal is the pig, and it was so nice to see outdoor reared pigs.
