A short walk to explore the woodlands on the delta of the Rivers Endrick and Coiltie, where they flow into Loch Ness at Drumnadrochit. The woodlands are one of the best surviving examples of ancient wet woodland in Europe (quote from local info'). The delta soil is replenished often by floods on the two rivers, enabling rich growth of wet-loving trees alder, ash, hazel, giant goat willows and poplars. Wildlife you may see include salmon, otters, roe-deer and pine martens.

It's interesting that a good number of the sightings of Nessie have in fact been of trees washed from here into Loch Ness by floods...

The early part of the walk is on pavement, elsewhere on good paths, so footwear is not a problem. This is a nice family walk (with dog).
