From the elegant mountain town of Valledemossa we begin by following the same route as Walk 6052, heading north-east up a track that takes us through the Comellar des Cairats Valley and up into the Serra. We will pass much evidence of bygone forest industries (see additional information) as we climb steeply past the picnic site at Font des Poll. An even steeper climb eventually brings us to the Refugio de Cairats. From here we continue up on the Cami de s'Arxiduc (see additional information), passing a defunct ice pit (see additional information). Before long we are high up in the starkly beautiful montane countryside and carry on westwards, enjoying the magnificent scenery.

Reaching the Pla des Amitges, we have the opportunity to keep on SW to shorten the hike. This hike now proceeds NW, passing Es Caragoli at 945m above sea level. Now we are on the precipitous escarpment Cingles de Son Rubian with a sheer drop beside our path. The views have to be seen to be believed. Soon we fork SW and descend steeply to reach the absolutely amazing cave, Hermitage Guiem. After exploring the interior of this special place we will follow a very steep and twisting footpath through forest that will eventually bring us to the Pla des Pouet and its well. Now we have only to follow the steep way south that will bring us to the northern outskirts of Valledemossa, very close to our start point.
