The walk starts from the car park at Villarreal de San Carlos and follows the 'yellow' waymarked route. You pass the helicopter landing area before crossing a very pretty ancient dehesa farming landscape typical of the area, before heading out towards the now flooded Tietar Valley Gorge and the Torrejon Dam. Following the valley you have ample opportunity to view the wildlife of the area, with herds of wild deer, many water birds and the major vulture-nesting site opposite the Mirador Las Tajadillas. Along with griffon and Egyptian vultures, rare species such as black vultures, Spanish imperial eagles, black storks and flocks of azure-winged magpies can be seen. Leave plenty of time to stop and view the birds and don't forget your binoculars and camera.
