This is a circular walk that is very deceptive; as despite its drab appearance on the map and its location, it is surprisingly green, pleasant, and very popular with local folk. The entire canal on this route is still in water, (see photo on the right), and although intended to be more for the canal enthusiast, the attractive scenery makes the route well worth a visit from every hiker; but if you want great views this is not the walk for you. In addition to the pleasant scenery most of the occasional buildings are quite modern, and it's a very enjoyable and easy walk for everyone.

The entire route has excellent hard paths all the way, most of them are quite wide and some are restricted access rural tracks. There are occasional snickets but no kissing gates or stiles. There is a long gradual slope on one section but most of the route is quite flat.

This walk is suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, good for buggies and possible for wheelchairs, but they may need folding to pass the four snickets and the narrowness of some short sections may cause the occasional cyclist a problem. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts.

On your route there are some occasional bench seats but otherwise there are no facilities except or a Chinese take-a-way close to the end and the pub at the start and finish which also has picnic tables. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink here; an excellent finish to a surprisingly good walk.
