Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track, much of this circular countryside walk is along footpaths which are not often used. This is mainly a canal walk, starting and finishing at a popular pub, with some normally unused footpaths being included to form a circular and interesting route. It's a walk recommended for a Sunday morning before an excellent carvery for lunch. All of the stiles are in good order and most are well marked with the route direction yellow arrows. There are no hills or slopes, but some meadows are rough and uneven and apart for the excellent canal towpath footpaths are invisible. Good navigating skills will be needed and as it's likely that cows will be encountered a walking stick will be handy. This walk includes instructions for walkers from moored canal boats.

The walk is most suitable for older teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Poor for dogs due to unfriendly stiles, and hopeless for wheelchairs & buggies. Suitable footwear will be boots due to some very uneven ground, and the wearing of shorts should be avoided as you are likely to have close encounters with nettles. Taking some small secateurs could also be very useful. On your route there are bench seats on the canal bank at Egg Bridge, but no other facilities except at the pub at the start and finish; if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with your pint; an excellent finish to a good walk.
