This is a fairly lengthy walk from the start of the Weardale Way at Sunderland, initially taking in the old industrial part of Sunderland and then turning into a pleasant riverside walk along the beautiful River Wear, with a variety of refreshment stops along the way. It is a pleasant walk for all seasons, with links to other Weardale Way walks.
