This leg of the Viking Way is best walked from south to north and is well-served by public transport, making it convenient to do as a day walk. Staying predominantly on the high ground between Grantham and Lincoln makes it a mostly level walk (there's only one climb and even the very unfit will barely break sweat), with views over the Brant Valley.
The walk passes through the villages of Navenby, Boothby Graffoe, Coleby, Harmston, Waddingham and Bracebridge Heath, all of which are served by the same bus - therefore the walk can easily be shortened. The walk finishes on Lincoln High Street, making an ideal opportunity to combine it with a look round this historic city - an ideal day out!
Picnickers will find benches in all the villages, along with a number of benches en route.
Dog owners should note that there are a number of dog-unfriendly stiles along the way.
