The Forest of Dean is a wonderful area for wildlife. It also provides miles of walking on good tracks, most of the time giving some protection from bad weather. The only track likely to be muddy is the one from Waymarks 05 to 06. The other tracks are wide and good underfoot. In this area the trees are mature and wildlife well-established.

JULY 2007 Some paths on this walk have been found to be very difficult to walk through due to growth of briars and bracken. Walkingworld has contacted the Forestry Commission but it's not clear if they are going to cut it back or not. This walk might be best tackled later in the year when the growth has died back.

We tried this walk last Sunday - 8th July. Nature has now reclaimed the grass track at point 5. We managed to beat a path through for about 75 yards, but were then confronted by an impenetrable wall of brambles, bracken and stinging nettles. A machete would be a good idea for this section!
