This is a circular walk through the heart of Cranborne Chase. Outward the route is through a dry valley, returning on a ridge via the site of a piece of Victorian archaeology, the best picnic spot. Views abound, as this is the highest part of The Chase.

The going is stony and dry except after wet weather. There are two short moderate climbs on the return.

A short cut on the return gives a totally gradual climb back and cuts half a mile off route and 45m off the climb.
