Pub Walk that will help save our footpaths - this circular challenging walk is along footpaths which are not often used. This used to be a popular pub walk, but since it became a restaurant fewer folk now seem to use it. Best walked in summer when the outwards bound path will be less swampy and soggy. In winter and during wet weather; it can get quite boggy in places, as you will see from one of the photos. You will pass through Big Wood which abounds with all manner of wildlife.

The return route starts with a magnificent old large windmill now turned into a house, followed by delightful fields of Shetland ponies and sheep. However, the stiles, bridges and signage need some repair, and even the correct long uneven path will take you through high grass with hidden brambles - waiting to trip you up. One bonus is you only have one short slope to climb, so most of the walk is on the level.

This walk is probably more suitable for older children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything stout and flat soled in summer; but in winter boots will be best and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts.

On the route there are no facilities except at the Inn restaurant at the start and finish. It has Italian style Pesto cooked food and is open every day, boasting real ales, draught Guinness and a good menu. Children are welcome and there's an enclosed patio area outdoors where you may sit outside with your dog. If you book in advance you should be able to get a good meal with your pint; an excellent finish to a good walk.
