This is a walk of two halves. The first half is from Midgham Railway Station to Thatcham Railway Station along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Along the route, you will pass by locks, cross the canal and even pass by a pub.

Upon reaching Thatcham Railway Station, you have the option of visiting The Swan pub. If you wish to forego the walk back over the hills, you can even catch the train back one stop to Midgham Station. The walk then passes to the east of Thatcham to reach the A4. Upon reaching the footpath sign, the walk begins its 'over the hills' section. The route gradually rises before skirting round Colthorp Manor and then arrives at Cox's Lane, where there are some great views behind you.

The walk continues through fields once more before reaching the village of Midgham, which is some distance from its railway station. From here, the walk heads through scenic Midgham Park before arriving at the lane which returns you to the village of Woolhampton and the start of the walk.
