The walk is mostly very flat and consists mainly of public footpaths and tracks. The Pump House Environmental Centre shows ways of building in an environmentally friendly way and has a working wind turbine, solar panels and rainwater harvesting. Advice on environmental issues is given. Toilets are available and there is a cafe and a Green shop (environmentally friendly). The river views are spectacular and there is a picnic area. Gheluvelt Park has recently undergone a regeneration programme and has been extended and improved. There are some unusual varieties of trees and flowers and there are tennis-courts, a bandstand, children's play area, toilets, Splash Pad, brook with bridges over, a cafe and a 'duck-pond', all in a relatively small area.
