The walk starts from Skeldergate Bridge in York and follows the Ebor Way and River Ouse into Bishopthorpe. The route passes St Andrew's Church and Bishopthorpe Palace, the residence of the Archbisop of York. Passing through Main Street in Bishopthorpe, you will find three pubs and a tea shop. There is plenty of free on-road parking here and it could be considered as an alternative start point for the walk between Waymarks 3 and 4.

Moving on from Bishopthorpe we pick up the Trans Pennine Trail, which takes us to York Racecourse. Walking behind the grandstand, we turn and head back towards the riverside before crossing the Millennium Bridge and returning to our start point, Skeldergate Bridge.

Very minor point. The bridge is Skeldergate NOT Skeltergate. Regards. Walkingworld corrected - thank you!

Did this walk on 14/11/21. We started from Bishopthorpe and turned around at the Millennium Bridge as some members of our party wanted a slightly shorter walk. This made it 6 miles. Everyone enjoyed the easy stroll on good paths with plenty of interest to look at.

Completed this walk on 19th-6-2021. It allows for a small detour into the Shambles etc.
